Vaquero

My painting entitled Vaquero is one of my favorite and earliest paintings. It was the last painting that is untainted by any formal training. I painted the piece right before I began taking classes to improve my skill. The art piece was painted in a dimly lit room. I stood there staring at the blank canvas thinking of what I would paint next. I caught a glimpse of my shadow on the canvas and was instantly enamored and lost in what I was seeing. I began to trace my shadow on the canvas . Later in my studies I learned that you never paint eyes fully round as this is not the natrual state of an eye. However I believe the roundeness of the eye gave Vaquero his charecter. His eyes are those of an insecure almost surprised man. Feelings which in my most vulenerable state, I can relate to. Isnt that like some of us though? Often in our attempt to hide our humanity we put the mask of confidence, happiness or indiffrence when if were being honost is not who we are. Vaquero

Mi pintura titulada Vaquero es una de mis pinturas favoritas y más tempranas. Fue la última pintura que no está contaminada por ningún entrenamiento formal. Pinté la pieza justo antes de comenzar a tomar clases para mejorar mi habilidad. La pieza de arte fue pintada en una habitación con poca luz. Me quedé allí mirando el lienzo en blanco pensando en lo que pintaría a continuación. Vislumbré mi sombra en el lienzo y al instante me enamoré y me perdí en lo que veía. Comencé a trazar mi sombra en el lienzo. Más tarde en mis estudios aprendí que nunca se pintan los ojos completamente redondos ya que este no es el estado natural de un ojo. Sin embargo, creo que la redondez del ojo le dio a Vaquero su carácter. Sus ojos son los de un hombre inseguro casi sorprendido. Sentimientos con los que en mi estado más vulnerable, puedo identificarme. ¿No es eso como algunos de nosotros? A menudo en nuestro intento de ocultar nuestra humanidad nos ponemos la máscara de la confianza, la felicidad o la indiferencia cuando si fuéramos honestos no es lo que somos. Los invito a contemplar mi pintura Vaquero y a extraer su propia interpretación.
